The Contract Room is taught by the founders of Leela Works. Both read law, both practised, and both spent years on the commercial contracts this programme works on before either of them built software.

Tripti Mody Sheth

Co-founder, Leela Works

Tripti is enrolled with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa and has spent two decades on commercial contracts: software licensing, procurement, services. She was legal counsel at Reliance Infocomm, then a contracts negotiator at Affiliated Computer Services, working in an eighteen-lawyer team across India, Malaysia and the United States. From 2008 she ran her own practice, doing the same work for her own clients. Since 2022 she has worked on applied AI, in agentic workflows and document intelligence, which is how Leela Works came about.

She leads the working sessions the way a matter is actually run: positions argued, fallbacks priced, and nothing accepted from the tools that has not been checked against the text.

Vivek Durai

Founder, Leela Works

Vivek read law at the National Law School of India University and began in the technology practice at Nishith Desai Associates, arguably India's first. He was legal counsel at Reliance Infocomm, drafting and negotiating telecoms infrastructure and software contracts; then a senior associate at AZB & Partners on private equity and infrastructure financing; then, from 2007, a partner at Atman Law Partners, where he headed the corporate transactional and technology practices.

He left practice to build. First TermSheet, a contract automation platform incubated at the IIT Madras Research Park, then paper.vc, a business intelligence platform for India's private markets. He founded Leela Works, on which the programme is taught, and leads the sessions on capability and professional safeguards: what agentic tools can properly be asked to do, and how their output is recorded and cited.
